It started out as just a regular day. I had to run some errands, so I headed to Target with my twin toddlers in tow.
And then something amazing happened.
I pulled into the parking lot and suddenly I saw a beacon of light shine down from the heavens and the angels started singing. There standing before me was a sign that read “Drive Up.” What the heck was this? Is this a drive-thru at Target? Do I no longer need to haul my screaming children out of my car and into a store? Can Target now read my mind?
The answer is YES!
Here’s how it works: After placing an order in the Target app and selecting “Drive Up,” Target will let you know when the order is ready to be picked up. When you’re on your way just click on “I’m on My Way” (on the app) and head to one of the special designated parking spots in your store’s lot and a team member will bring it out to your car.
It’s a Target Miracle!
Right now Target is testing the Drive Up model at 50 locations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Twin Cities area and if all goes well will expand to more stores in the future.
If there were a drive-thru for everything I needed, my life would be complete. Okay, maybe I don’t need EVERYTHING handed to me out the side window of a building or delivered to my car. I just need the important stuff like milk, bread, diapers, children’s over the counter medicine, cupcakes and birthday presents. (So now I won’t even have to leave my car while I am picking up the present while en route to the children’s birthday party that I almost forgot about.)
Parents of twins, and multiple young children in general, have to think about logistics to get them into a store. Double carts. Automatic doors. Easy parking. These are the things I consider before I leave my house to run an errand with my children in tow. A steady stream of drive-thru businesses and a straight up delivery service for everything in my life solves these logistical problems.
It makes me happy to see so many more delivery options and drive-thru’s popping up in my area. If a business is offering to make my life easier, count me in.
Businesses everywhere take note…if you build it, minivans everywhere will come.
