My life has been filled with ridiculous moments lately. Public displays that are cause for embarrassment. Moments that could either bring you to tears or fits of laughter…depending on the day. Those are the days I struggle. Which way do I lean?
Last summer, my twins were playing in the backyard and my toddler daughter just pulled down her pants and took a dump in the yard.
Seriously, she pooped in my backyard instead of walking 20 feet into the house and going in the bathroom.
I told this story to my mother in horror and total embarrassment and she cheered, “Yay, you are one step closer to life without diapers! She didn’t poop in her pants.”
Ummm, okay…. yep, you’re right. There is a bright side to everything.
Parenting is a series of steps and I guess pooping in the yard is part of her process to becoming potty trained. I wish I would have read that part in a manual or something, but sometimes we just have to make up the manual of life as we go along.
I’ve come to discover when life gets ridiculous, sometimes it’s best to embrace the crazy. Savor the chaos and see the good. Appreciate the turd in my yard. Love all that is crazy in your life. …And just get through the freaking day.
